Mark Penny

Following 14 years in business, managing and leading high performance teams, including the MD position of a major national retail chain, Mark became a corporate performance coach raising individual and team performance.

Mark founded Student Coaching to apply the principles of performance coaching to educational achievement. Mark has worked with numerous schools, colleges, universities and private clients and has coached groups and individuals from primary age to mature students; raising achievement, developing self esteem, teaching the ability and skills to learn. Mark is part of the team that has developed and delivered the innovative GCSEasy programme to various schools in England.

David Butlin

33 years teaching mostly in mixed 13-19 comprehensive schools has provided David with a wealth of educational expertise. Teaching a range of subjects from Year 7 to Year 13 provided direct, practical understanding of the learning process. Being a Deputy Head for 22 years highlighted the primacy of brave and innovative leadership, creative management, effective teamwork and the recruitment of talented personnel. Working as a Local Authority and Ofsted inspector confirmed the importance of the qualities expressed above. Managing Northampton Schools FA and writing Business Studies texts for GCSE was simply enjoyable.

Successful coordination of the 14-19 Development Project for the Birmingham and Solihull LSC, combined with the task of collaborative adviser for the South Birmingham Schools Network has provided enduring example of innovative learning in various schools.

  
   

Phil Parker

35 years of teaching in secondary education has provided Phil with wide ranging opportunities to advance ideas and developments which have impacted on the quality of teaching and learning. 16 years of that time as a senior leader of a highly successful, nationally-recognised and Outstanding school has given him the chance to drive such innovation across the whole school.

Phil’s reputation has led him to lead on authority-wide innovations in Birmingham as well as nationally via QCDA and the Sports College network of schools.

Always, the rationale behind his work has been to transform the quality of learning and range of opportunities for young people. His role in Student Coaching allows him to continue to work with schools across the country to achieve this goal. He thoroughly enjoys the experience too!

  
   

Phil Dawson

Following a long and varied career in product and industrial design Phil moved to New Zealand and started a new career in operations and large scale event management. Returning to the UK in 2006 he became a key member of the Student Coaching team, developing Student Coaching into a strong ecommerce business, by rebranding, innovative presentation design and leading edge website development. 

Phil is passionate about applying ever changing technology and design to enhance educational achievement and personal development.
